Former President John Dramani Mahama’s popularity in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) appears to be unmatched despite leading the party to two annihilating electoral defeats.
According to our sources the party’s grassroot is strongly pushing an agenda for the former president to be the party’s flagbearer unopposed in the 2024 general elections.
The grassroot vowed to force the 2020 NDC flagbearer to lead the party into the election even if he showed no interest.
“He can’t leave us in the middle of the sea until he leads us to cross it,” a former Asokore Mampong Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) in the Ashanti Region, Nurudeen Hamidan, stated.
Hamidan who was said to be speaking on Kumasi-based Akoma FM, monitored by Ghanaarticles.com added that the grassroot would fight anyone who would wish to challenge Mahama including the Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Alban Bagbin.
“We will fight Alban Bagbin if he dares contest John Mahama,” he warned advising that the veteran legislator “should concentrate in Parliament and leave the presidential race to Mahama to take the NDC to the Promised Land in 2024.
